Smithers - A pocket of outdoor heaven

smithers mountainsCradled on a valley floor and shadowed by the emerald forests on Hudson Bay Mountain, Smithers is tucked in one of Canada's most remotely beautiful regions - the pristine Bulkley Valley of British Columbia. This tiny village of just 6,000 is a unique jewel in northern BC, with all the amenities of civilization and none of the stress. It's 360 km west of Prince George, and only steps from a plentiful array of wilderness adventure awaiting you in the BC wilderness. Smithers is central to a paradise of backcountry recreation. That includes the new Babine Mountain Provincial Park - where wildlife from grizzly bear to mountain goat thrive.
