When travelling by highway visit Tourism Smithers Travel Info.Traveling by AIRFrom Vancouver International Airport you will find up to three flights daily to Smithers. Car rental at the Smithers Airport is provided by National Car Rental and Thrifty.Pick up at the airport can also be arranged.Traveling with the FERRYBC Ferries ( www.bcferries.bc.ca ) offers the Inside Passage from Port Hardy, Vancouver Island to Prince Rupert. The Inside Passage is a 15 hours sailing trip along the beautiful scenic west coast of Canada. Alaska-Ferries ( www.akferry.org ) offers trips from Juneau or Skagway, Alaska to Prince Rupert. Depending on the season you might be lucky and see different kinds of whales and sea lions. From Prince Rupert you can continue your trip by car (Highway 16 East to Smithers) or take the train.Traveling by TRAINThe SKEENA ( www.viarail.ca ) leaves Prince Rupert every Wednesday, Friday or Sunday morning and leads you along the breathtaking Skeena and Bulkley River in a 7 hour ride to Smithers. Coming from Jasper through Prince George you can enjoy the scenic Rocky Mountains and the beautiful Lake Districts from the SKEENA.Pick up at the train station can be arranged.
Directions to the Smithers Driftwood LodgeComing from Prince Rupert through the town of Smithers on Highway 16 you cross the Bulkley River and turn left onto OLD BABINE LAKE ROAD.Coming from Prince George on Highway16, turn right onto OLD BABINE LAKE ROAD before crossing the bridge that would lead you to the town of Smithers. Follow OLD BABINE LAKE ROAD for the next 10 km until you reach the intersection of Telkwa High Road and OLD BABINE LAKE ROAD and proceed straight through the intersection. From here OLD BABINE LAKE ROAD changes to a gravel road. At the second driveway to your right, after 1 km, is our sign Driftwood Lodge, follow the driveway down to the Lodge.
